Local History

The Bayside Library Local History Collection is held at Brighton library. It contains a range of materials related to the history of Bayside and previous municipalities which existed before the amalgamation in 1994. These included Brighton, Sandringham and Moorabbin. The Local history collection is a reference collection to be viewed at the library.

 

Bayside Libraries collect items of historical significance to our area. We aim to preserve and make these available to our community.

Bayside Libraries hold a vast collection of historical photographs, maps and photographs that have been digitized. Bayside Library can provide reproductions of most photographs within our collection for use in exhibitions, research, study and publications. If you wish to request a reproduction, please complete this form. You can also book an appointment to view an original item.

This website features a range of still photographs, video, and text documents, as well as a regional bibliography that provides entries for over five hundred resources that were originally created and published by Bayside Libraries on the SIN On Disc CD-ROM in 1998.
