About the Big Summer Read
Starting in December 2025, record your reading and collect incentives along the way. There are competitions to enter and prizes to win. All you need to do is register to join in the fun!
Join – register for the Big Summer Read or visit your local library
Borrow – borrow library books (including ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, or comics) and start reading.
Read – a minimum of 5 books read or 5 days of reading recorded to be eligible for the prize draw.
Win – great prizes!

If you are aged 0-18, join the BIG Summer Read for your chance to WIN!
Log each day you read AND/OR log each book you read.
A minimum of 5 books read or 5 days of reading are needed to be recorded to be eligible for the prize draw.
Register and make sure you choose Bayside Libraries as your primary library.
The competition starts on 1 December 2025 and closes on 31 January 2026.

What are the prizes?
What are the local prizes for Bayside Libraries?
0-4: Museum Of Play and Art (MOPA) vouchers and book packs
5-8: Luna Park family pass, Lego sets, book packs and plushies
9-12: Nintendo Switch, Lego sets, book packs and plushies
13-18: Nintendo Switch 2, Lego sets and book packs
National and Victorian Statewide Prizes
Will there be a National prize?
Yes!
0-4 years age category – Picture Book Bundle Pack
5-8 years age category – Books and Activity Pack
9-12 years age category – Bluetooth Headphones
13-18 years age category – Kobo eReader
Will there be a Victorian state prize too?
Yes! For each of the following age categories, there will be one 12-month Zoos Victoria Family Membership (2 adults and all children in 1 household) and one book pack – 8 prizes total:

Terms and Conditions of the Statewide Prize Draw
1. Information on prizes and how to enter form part of these Terms and Conditions.
2. Participation in this competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
3. By registering for the Big Summer Read, participants acknowledge that personal details including email addresses and/or phone numbers will be required. Full privacy and data use details is included within these Terms and Conditions.

Who can enter?
1. Participants from Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales are eligible to enter the Big Summer Read.
2. Entry is open to children aged 0-18 years of age, including individuals who may celebrate their 19th birthday during the campaign. Entry is also open to individuals with an intellectual disability aged 18 years and over.
3. ReadBooks registration and entries can be completed by: a. Parents/guardians of children 0-18 years old OR b. Individual readers aged 13 years and over.
4. Where the participant is 13 years and over, permission must be granted by a relevant parent or guardian 5. Participants can enter online on the ReadBooks website or by submitting a paper based log to a participating library
