Boardmounted photograph in poor condition.Portrait of Jonathon Binns Were in uniform of Consul General of Portugal. He arrived in Melbourne in 1839. In 1841 became Henry Dendy's land agent and assumed halfshare in Dendy estate. 1840-Chairman of commerce and 1st J.P appointed for Port Phillip. Bankrupt in 1843. 1856 elected to Legislative assembly for Brighton. 2nd bankrupcy in 1857 caused retirement. 1859 Chairman and secretary of Stock exchange. He lived at Moorabbin House in Brighton and ran the Melbourne exhibition in 1881. Died 1885.
