Sepia photograph, 8 x 12cm. This building was owned by Matthew Lang (1830 - 1893), a wine and spirits merchant in early Melbourne. He was also Mayor of Melbourne for three consecutive terms. In the centre is a high-pitched gabled wooden house which was the neat shooting box belonging to T.J. Thomas who owned the land before Matthew Lang. The photograph was taken just before his Beaumaris estate was sold.
