In 1918, a tornado of tremendous force ripped through the streets of Brighton leaving in its wake a trail of destruction. The main force of the gale moved in from the bay in three separate swathes, finally abating on the outskirts of the town. Despite the extent of the damage only one life was lost, that of a child hit by flying iron. These picture taken by a local photographer have been kindly made available by Mr. W. V. Scott.
