Hill, David, 19462015
Books
In March 1787, Arthur Bowes Smyth took on the job of ship's surgeon aboard the Lady Penrhyn, one of the 11 ships of the First Fleet. He was responsible for the health and survival of the crew and for more than 100 women who had been sentenced to transportation. His journal provides a rare glimpse into the character and lives of the first women brought as convicts to Australia.
