Beat the devil : An offbeat tale of adventure and suspense involving the passengers on a steamer who attempt to outfox each other for illegal control of a parcel of land believed to be rich with uranium deposits.Blood on the sun : An American newspaper editor working in pre-World War II Japan tries to expose the menace of a Japanese militarist plan ("Tanaka plan") for world conquest. The snows of Kilimanjaro : Possibly the most successful attempt to bring Hemingway to the screen, this classic revolves around a writer who has lost his intellectual and emotional bearings, combining many Hemingway tales to make its point. As the film opens, Peck is shown half dead on a cot in an African campsite, his leg infected. Although he has seen fame in his lifetime, he feels he no longer has anything to live for. As he slips in and out of consciousness with his wife (Susan Hayward) at his side, he looks back at his colourful life., seeing himself as a teenager in the Midwest, as a young writer living in Paris who falls in love with Cynthia (Ava Gardiner), and travelling around Africa. Eventually he comes to terms with his haunting past and realises the depth of his love for his wife.
