Books
Set on the quaint island of Prince Edward Island, this heart-warming tale is about an aging brother and sister, Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert, who decide to adopt a boy to help with chores around their farm. As the result of a misunderstanding, the boy turns out to be none other than Anne, a feisty and lively redhead who is as charming as she is tenacious. At first Mathew and Marilla are at odds as to what “use” Anne might be to them, when Mathew wisely observes that he and Marilla “might be of some use to her”. And thus begins the warm tale of three lives that grow together in the enchanted Avonlea. Despite her characteristic stubborn streak and headstrong ways, Anne wins many friends and admirers in Avonlea, including her best friend and "kindred spirit," Diana, and her handsome admirer, Gilbert Blythe, who often find themselves unintentional victims of Anne's escapades.
