Summary

Funky Chicken is off on his second adventure! With the help of his farm friends on 'Bob and Sue's Egg Farm in Humpty Doo, he builds a rocket from old odds and ends for his mission to fly out into space in search of other funky creatures similar to himself. What he finds instead is some very unusual planets with even more unusual inhabitants! Narrated by the author to an exquisite orchestral backing score, where every creature has its own instrument sound! His search for intergalactic funkiness proves to be a little difficult to find and after he '...flew the full length of the whole Milky Way. He flew for a year, seven months and one day...' he is unable to find any creature that remotely resembles a Funky Chicken! Eventually, Funky Chicken is directed by the beautiful queen (from a planet called Ween) to a place 'where the feathered folk flew...where animals flourished and the sky was deep blue'. She is of course referring to planet Earth, and after a after a hair-raising final mad dash (where the rocket ship practically disintegrates) our feathered hero realises he is home when he crash-lands back home on the egg farm. It is there he discovers '...there was no need to roam! His family and friends were all right here at home'. Funky Chicken: Chooks in Space is a wild and crazy adventure that provides plenty of laughs as our feathered hero meets all kinds of weird and wonderful creatures on his funky space voyage.
