Built in 1887 and owned by John Nicholson. In 1905 he rented it to Emma A'Beckett. It is a large late victorian gothic styled residence similar to Kiora in South rd and is position on Church street hill. John Nicholson was an importer. The house is representative of the prominent homes built by importers in Brighton. The house featured as the "Beaumanior" in the Martin Boyd book "Day of my delight"
