The house `Landcox' was built in 1854 by J.B. Were. In 1862 it was bought by Archibald McMillan. In 1870 Kate McMillan commissioned Charles Webb to undertake alterations which were completed by 1874. The alterations consisted of a 2 story 8 roomed residence to the east of the existing house. In 1884 Thomas Bent acquired the house. It was then owned by Charles Officer. It became Landcox Private Hospital in 1913, Marillac House 1942 and Tara Buddist Institue in 1987.
