Adam Lindsay Gordon, the famous Australian poet was a lodger in this house for 17months in 1869/70. He and his wife Margaret lodged with William Kelly, the gardener to George Higinbotham. The cottage was situated at 10 Lewis Street, Brighton and was demolised in 1946. Gordon shot himself on the Brighton foreshore on June 24, 1870.
