The statue stands on a granite pedestal and was originally unveiled on 27 Oct 1913 by the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Madden. Statue moved circa 1980 when road widened. Thomas Bent (1838-1909) was a councillor of Brighton, Moorabin for 45 years, representative Legislative Assembly for Brighton for 32 years and Premier 1904-1909.
