This photograph shows Sir Thomas Bent's statue in its old position before Nepean Highway was widened. It stood on a granite pedestal on the corner of Bay street and Point Nepean road and was unveiled on 27 Oct 1913 by the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Madden. Thomas Bent (1838-1909) was a councillor of Brighton, Moorabbin for 45 years, representative, Legislative Assembly for Brighton, 32 years and Premier 1904-1909.
