This photograph shows Sir Thomas Bent's statue in its old position before the highway was widened. It stood on a granite pedestal on the corner of Bay street and Point Nepean road. It was unveiled on 27 Oct 1913 by the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Madden. The road is been widened. Thomas Bent (1838-1909) was a councillor of Brighton, Moorabbin for 45 years, representative of the Legislative Assembly for Brighton 32 years and Premier 1904-1909.
