Book Clubs at Bayside Library Service

Bayside Library is committed to providing multiple book discussion opportunities to our community. Book clubs introduce readers to books they might not otherwise read. Through reflection and discussion, book clubs give readers a deeper meaning to what they read. Most of all, book clubs bring people together to celebrate reading!

Bayside Library Service offers four types of Book Discussion opportunities

Library Facilitated Book Clubs

The library currently hosts eight clubs. Each club is limited to 12 people to give everyone a chance to participate in the discussion. Each of the clubs reads books off the library's book club kit list which includes both fiction and non-fiction.

If you would like to join one of our Library Book Clubs, please contact us

DIY Book Club

If you run your own book club, Bayside Library can support you by

  • Access to our book club kits (12 copies of the same title) and discussion notes
  • Fact sheets to help you get your book club started and organised

How it works

1. Place a reservation request on the book club kit of your choice.
2. Pick up the kit when you receive notification that your hold is available.
3. Return all copies + discussion guides when you return the kit by the due date.

You do need to be a paid member of this program to borrow the DIY Book Club Kits

If you would like to access this program, please contact us

Book Chats Currently suspended

Led by a library staff member, Book Chat is free and a great way to meet and talk with other people who love books.

FaceBook Group

Be sure to check out our Crime Readers FaceBook Page regularly to see what we are offering and participate in online discussions.

Other options

BorrowBox Popular Titles allow simultaneous access to the same eBook title, so all your book club members can read the same book at the same time. Also look out for the Overdrive Big Read Campaign which features one book club title, in eBook format, every quarter available with unlimited checkouts. The highlighted book will feature a discussion guide.
